When in 1904 AIGLI ZAPPEIOU served its very first coffee, an ambitious vision was born: a place where leisure would meet culture, in seamless harmony with the cosmopolitan spirit of the capital. Its exceptional outlook over the National Garden and the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis soon established it as a favoured meeting point for intellectuals, artists, and pioneers of the era. Over the decades, AIGLI ZAPPEIOU evolved into one of Athens’ most emblematic destinations, a genuine oasis at the heart of the city.
Today, 120 years on, AIGLI ZAPPEIOU, once described as “the most delightful centre of Athens”, enters a new chapter. Fully renovated, it reveals its character through a careful balance of historical identity and contemporary sensibility.
Entertainment, culture, gastronomy, and events come together under one roof. AIGLI ZAPPEIOU stands as a significant hub of culinary and cultural activity, featuring the all-day bar restaurant AIGLI ZAPPA, the open-air AIGLI CINEMA, and three state-of-the-art event venues, AIGLI BALLROOM, AIGLI UPSTAIRS, and AIGLI YARD. Its spaces cater to every occasion, from intimate gatherings to large-scale conferences, offering an ideal setting for presentations, workshops, dinners, and business lunches.
The atmospheric cinema of AIGLI ZAPPEIOU, which first opened in the third decade of the twentieth century, has preserved the charm and romance of the classic open-air experience, while continuously evolving to offer a contemporary, high tech standard that rivals leading screening venues worldwide.
From May through October, each evening unfolds beneath the stars, which accompany the screen and create a truly distinctive cinematic experience under the summer sky of Athens
